In January 2024, The L.A. Times Guild was informed that a staggering number of employees would be laid off. We had to act quickly.
In less than 48 hours we created a strategy, designed and printed posters, and organized hundreds of colleagues to walk away from work to protest at city hall. It was the first worker’s strike in Los Angeles Times history.
I was responsible for the signs in particular, but the teamwork that led to this saved jobs and brought our newsroom together.
